We are looking for an experienced Software Developer Consultant to join our Specialized Consulting Center (SCC) team in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Software Developer Consultant 2, SCC

The SCC team supports Guidewire Cloud customers in two ways. First, we engage with customers after deployment to support changes to their production system, including new feature development and defect resolution. Second, we collaborate directly with customer development teams to support Guidewire deliveries through a series of specialized service offerings in critical areas. These offerings focus on performance, new feature enablement, production delivery and more to ensure alignment with Guidewire cloud standards and best practices.

The Role:

As a Software Developer Consultant with the SCC team, you will work as part of our Centers of Excellence to deliver specialized services offerings directly to our customers. These specialized offerings support customer implementation and post-production deliveries to ensure their success.

We are seeking a decisive, skilled technical problem solver with previous mentoring experience and an appetite for learning and developing a specialized skillset, to join our dynamic, expanding global team of technical consultants at the forefront of Guidewire's cloud transformation. Successful Software Developer Consultants at Guidewire typically are: 

  • Passionate about solving complex technical problems and working with some of the biggest insurance companies across the world  

  • Focused on advocating for and writing good high-quality code that follows industry standard 

  • Mentoring more junior members of the team in standards and how to effectively solve complex problems effectively  

  • Interested in talking to customers and working in a role that values communication and presentation skills highly  

  • Enthusiastic about continual technical improvement  

  • Confident communicators, comfortable in speaking your mind and defending promoting your ideas based on merit  

  • Ability and enthusiasm to learn from others.

What are we looking for?

  • Exposure to broad technical skills such as Object- -Oriented programming Programming (JAVA or C#), relational databases (data modelling/SQL), web UI (design and development), XML, application architecture  

  • At least 2 years experience working with customer teams to understand business objectives and functional requirements  

  • Exposure to Continuous Delivery, Continuous Integration, Unit Testing, etc.  

  • An ability to work independently within a team  

  • Mentoring experience within a successful development team  

  • BSc in Computer Science or equivalent from a third level institution
