The Story
Safety National Casualty Corp., a member of the Tokio Marine Group, is a leading provider of alternative risk-funding products such as excess workers’ compensation, deductible casualty, loss portfolio transfers, and reinsurance.
With its unique offerings and competitive position in the marketplace, Safety National has been on track to more efficiently and effectively access data and related insights to better deliver on its service commitments to policyholders. So the company opted for Guidewire InsuranceSuite as its new underwriting, policy administration, claims, and billing management system. The large commercial insurer also launched Guidewire DataHub and InfoCenter as its new data and analytics solutions. The Guidewire core and data products are replacing Safety National’s internally developed systems, helping to streamline the way it does business.
“We are a specialty carrier, so having a configurable system supported by a solution that enables us to stay current on industry standards appealed to us greatly,” said Chris Griffith, Chief Information Officer at Safety National.
The implementation itself met Safety National’s expectations, with Guidewire PartnerConnect Consulting partner EY taking a lead role in the project.
“By getting weekly updates from every team involved in the project regarding budget and implementation status, we were able to implement the products on time and on budget—and have already achieved significant return on investment following deployment,” said Griffith.
The company also enjoys a more seamless billing process integrated with PolicyCenter and third-party systems; the capability to collect more measurable data points and better map/convert data through the full InsuranceSuite product line; improved commission and payment processing; and a single view of data to users across the organization—including claims, finance, and underwriting.
“The biggest benefit for Safety National is the completeness and accuracy of the data we can now gather through DataHub,” added Griffith. “As data becomes the new currency, it is reassuring to know that DataHub will provide a single source of truth for us and will prove invaluable to the future of Safety National.”
The decision to transform its core systems to Guidewire’s digital platform has been a welcome one for Safety National, on track to increase responsiveness to changing business and technical requirements by bringing new products and product enhancements to market more quickly.
