CNA Streamlines Underwriting Process with Guidewire PolicyCenter

Guidewire's Policy System to Enhance Producer Relationships and Underwriting Accuracy

SAN MATEO Calif. , November 29, 2006

Guidewire Software®, a leading provider of technology solutions to property and casualty and workers' compensation insurers, today announced that CNA, a leading provider of property and casualty insurance, has begun deployment of Guidewire PolicyCenter® to support its core underwriting process.

Guidewire PolicyCenter provides system-to-system integration between the company and agents, applies rule-based business logic to risk evaluation, and provides underwriters a unified desktop to manage and monitor the underwriting process effectively. PolicyCenter also enables integration of processes and information between underwriting and claims.

"PolicyCenter is a key enabler of our efforts to deepen our agency relationships and to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of our underwriting operations," said John Golden, chief information officer, CNA.

Guidewire PolicyCenter supports the end-to-end underwriting and policy administration process, including new policy applications, renewals, changes, cancellations, and reinstatements. Independent agents will use PolicyCenter to enter new submissions and review status for their customers, aided by integration to existing agency management systems.

"CNA is a leading business insurer and a pioneer in using technology to deliver improved business results," said Jeff Simpson, chief executive officer, Guidewire Software. "Working with CNA has helped make us a better company, and we look forward to continuing our relationship for many years to come."
