Core systems replacement promotes cultural and business transformation
With a history of 75 years in P&C insurance, San Cristóbal Seguros has a reputation of financial strength and solvency and ranks among the top 10 insurers in global market share for auto insurance and other main products. The company serves more than 500,000 policyholders. Until recently, it also had a traditional culture—one in which the business and IT departments operated separately.
As part of a company-wide strategic initiative to modernize its core systems and workflows, San Cristóbal implemented Guidewire ClaimCenter, followed by Guidewire PolicyCenter and Guidewire BillingCenter. It uses BillingCenter to manage billing operations, including agency and direct bill and commissions calculations. Optimizing its policy and billing system infrastructure and associated processes helped the company’s employees realize new efficiencies in sharing data and information.

With its on-time and on-budget implementation, San Cristóbal Seguros now runs on the Guidewire platform, which has delivered improved average claims cycle times, better visibility into claims attributes, and faster resolution of customer inquiries. A streamlined, more simplified approach to the process of issuing policies based on international insurance industry best practices has also increased customer satisfaction.
