In today's digital, cloud-centric world, developer innovation creates business value and expedites the release of new products and features, helping P&C insurers to grow, differentiate and compete. At Guidewire DEVSummit 2024, the Guidewire global developer community convened to learn and connect—accelerating delivery of new solutions on Guidewire Cloud.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) was the exclusive sponsor of the event, which culminated with the announcement of the DEVHack 2024 winners. The Guidewire virtual hackathon enabled development teams from insurers, consulting organizations, and technology providers worldwide to collaborate, build, and demonstrate real-world solutions.

The Guidewire Developer Community is the P&C Pulse for Innovation

The Guidewire developer ecosystem comprises more than 13,000 technical professionals from consulting and technology partners and the Guidewire customer community. The cloud integrations, products, and services they develop give insurers a wide range of choices for growing and differentiating their business.

Focused on cloud innovation, Guidewire developers also have unique opportunities to advance their careers. They deepen their specialization, gaining highly valued skills in insurance technology.

Our developer network includes insurers and partners who develop capabilities for their operations. In addition, over 200 technology partners have created hundreds of pre-built content for insurers to discover and adopt, all validated by Guidewire and published in the Guidewire Marketplace.

Developer Innovation is Faster and Easier on Guidewire Cloud

Guidewire Cloud Platform enables insurers to focus on P&C excellence with core modernization from a scalable, secure, and rapidly updatable cloud delivery model. Unleash unparalleled business agility, leverage trusted infrastructure, achieve operational predictability, and power the P&C lifecycle with core services from a foundational cloud platform underpinning the applications that drive business outcomes.

With Guidewire Cloud Platform, insurers can respond to changing market dynamics, heightened customer expectations, and evolving business requirements. Its cloud-first, hybrid-tenancy architecture modernizes insurers’ mission critical core systems to increase interoperability while ensuring scalability, compliance, and security in a platform insurers can trust.

Developers get value from the platform across the software lifecycle, including development, testing integration, deployment, and maintenance. Role-based, self-service project and environment setup helps developers easily create projects and manage their development. Easy build and deploy capabilities based on Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) best practices enable frequent and reliable software improvements, making development, deployment, and maintenance easier and faster than ever.

The Jutro Digital Platform further enhances developer capabilities by helping developers create seamless digital experiences. Robust APIs enable application connections to the Guidewire Cloud and the creation of completely headless experiences via the Integration Framework.

Guidewire Cloud Platform and the entire developer ecosystem are bolstered by Guidewire's collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), providing a complete cloud services and cloud management portfolio that gives fast, flexible access to the cloud. Both companies share a joint commitment to driving cloud ingenuity within the P&C industry, and this partnership earned Guidewire the AWS Industry Partner of the Year - Financial Services - Global award, reflecting our specialization, innovation, and cooperative efforts for insurers.

Guidewire DEVSummit 2024 Inspires Developer Community

In Bengaluru, India, Guidewire brought together more than 450 attendees from 50 companies to learn, and spearhead innovation on the Guidewire Cloud Platform. For two days at Guidewire DEVSummit 2024, participants learned about the features, capabilities, and resources that enable developer success on Guidewire Cloud.

In his opening keynote, Guidewire’s Chief Product Development Officer, Diego Devalle, set the stage for attendees. He summarized the future of development on Guidewire Cloud Platform, highlighting its growth and upcoming features. He explained how it gives P&C developers a modern environment to unlock new levels of agility and innovation and that it includes:

  • Self-service for greater DevOps control

  • Externalized Core Services to power business agility, including:

    • APD-driven development enabling faster, wider adoption

    • Data Platform to optimize data access, curation, and insight

    • Jutro App Templates to accelerate digital experience development

Kicking off the event’s second day with his mainstage session, Delli Bhaskar explained how developers can use Guidewire Cloud Platform to provide insurers with differentiated solutions through state-of-the-art content, integrations, and data that solve their most critical business challenges.

As Guidewire's preferred cloud provider and exclusive sponsor of the event, AWS led a thought leadership session on areas where Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) and Generative AI (GenAI) can help transform insurers into more data-driven organizations to deliver better customer and business outcomes. In addition to seeing live demos of Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Q that illustrated the value of these technologies to insurers, the hundreds of developers in attendance learned about the principles of Amazon’s culture of innovation as well as its pragmatic mechanisms for enabling experimentation and rapid innovation at scale.
